What is flow through racking?

A Flow Through Pallet Rack (also known as Pallet Flow Rack or Gravity Flow) is a high-density solution for fast-moving SKUs or where warehouse space may not be suitable for a Roll Form or Structural Pallet Rack System. The Flow Through concept is that pallets are loaded from the back of the system.

What is one disadvantage of flow through racks?

With carton flow rack systems, labor savings of up to 75% can be realized as stocking speed is often doubled or tripled. These systems also take up less floor space because fewer aisles are needed to reach the same amount of products.

 

What is the difference between shelving and racking?

The central difference between shelving and racking is that shelving involves putting products into the system and retrieving them by hand. With racking, warehouse employees carry out storage and retrieval with equipment like forklifts.
